Keira Knightley is a beautiful and talented actress and model. She is known for her roles in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, Everest, Begin Again, Love Actually, and more. Just recently, director John Carney publicly criticized and questioned Knightley’s acting talents. Many feel he went above and beyond simply constructively criticizing her and absolutely blasted her accomplishments. You MUST SEE this!!
Carney directed the film Begin Again which starred Keira alongside Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine. During an interview with The Independent, Carney was quoted as saying, “I don’t want to rubbish Keira, but you know it’s hard being a film actor and it requires a certain level of honesty and self-analysis that I don’t think she’s ready for yet, and I certainly don’t think she was ready for on that film.” He went on to further bash the model/actress by stating, “I learned that I’ll never make a film with supermodels again.” Ouch! Carney had nothing but positive things to say about Maroon 5 front-man Adam Levine and his ability to act.
Thankfully, other directors who have worked with Knightley took to Twitter to defend her talents. Director Mark Romanek Tweeted “My experience with #keiraknightley was utterly spectacular on every level. I have no clue what this guy is talking about. #arrogants–thead.” Director Lorene Scafaria concurred and Tweeted, “I agree with Mark. Keira was a joy to work w/. Present & easy & really, really good at her job. Just lovely.” What do you think? Did Keira Knightley deserve such harsh criticism from John Carney?
